From the moment I met Mona and Vern, I knew I wanted to work with them. While they both had very particular ideas in mind about their wedding day, they were both very laid back about all the right things. In addition to that, they both had an amazing sense of humour and that always immediately makes me adore a couple even more.
Mona and Vern were living overseas in Singapore so I only had an opportunity to meet them in person twice during the entire planning process which was quite short, 4 months if I recall correctly. The first time was at our initial consultation and the second time was an entire day I packed full of back-to-back vendor meetings so that Mona and Vern could meet all those who were going to be involved in bringing together their wedding day plus hair + makeup trials and their engagement shoot. I think it was 8 consecutive hours full of laughter I spent with them on that second visit so that I could really get to know them to ensure their wedding day reflected who they were as a couple.
Mona and Vern wanted their wedding to very much represent the West Coast but also tie in the very vibrant colours from South Asia and Mona’s culture. And because almost all of their guests were coming from out of town or overseas, Mona and Vern wanted their wedding weekend (2 days) to be an intimate yet glamorous event full of surprises, excitement and entertainment. From customized welcome baskets in hotel rooms, a Mehndi party with plenty of traditional Indian foods and sweets, a Welcome dinner, custom cocktails, transformation of the ceremony space into a lounge area in a blink of an eye and attire changes to Bhangra dancers, the entire weekend was unforgettable.
We feel so blessed to meet so many incredible couples that really leave a mark in our hearts. A bonus was when we found out Mona and Vern’s wedding would be featured in the Summer/Fall 2013 issue of Wedluxe Magazine. Mona and Vern’s wedding took place only a few days following Christmas, which every one in the industry knows is a very busy and demanding time, so we are forever grateful to the team of incredible vendors involved – we couldn’t have done it without them and we very much enjoyed spending some of that holiday time with our work family 🙂 Photography by Vasia Weddings.
