Ann + John: Botanical Gardens

The time I have for blogging is slim to none these days (I’m too busy planning all of your weddings!) but I’d still like to share recent work as often as possible.

I’m starting to receive loads of images from various photographers from weddings throughout this year which is super exciting! Other than seeing details of an event come together and executing an event, nothing makes me happier than scrolling through images of past weddings to reflect on that day and couple. I’ll do my best with sharing…it will just mean less “reading” and more “seeing” for you haha.

Ann + John were sweeter than pie from the get go and I’m sure you can see it in their eyes. I was hired for Day-of Coordination for their wedding and referred several of my trusty vendors to bring their day together. Here is a peek into their beautiful, special day at the Van Dusen Botanical Gardens. Photographs by Vasia Photography.

Kind words:

“I can’t recommend Petite Pearl highly enough. We purchased the day-of coordination package, and we feel it was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. This package takes all the stress out of the crazy last few weeks of planning and the actual wedding day, the value of which cannot be overestimated. Jessica Minnie was incredible– super sharp, knowledgeable, professional, and organized, and also friendly and lovely to have around! She was unbelievably flexible and went WAY above and beyond for us to make our wedding day everything we dreamed of. Our families didn’t initially understand why we needed a coordinator, but by the end, our moms were thanking us for hiring her!” – Ann + John

Melanie - Love the rustic and elegant look of this wedding!

Riley + Tyler: To The Lighthouse

Riley + Tyler were the winners of a stylized engagement shoot giveaway Vasia Photography, Charrisse Mae Makeup Artistry and I did to kick off 2012 together! We are located in Vancouver and when we informed Riley + Tyler that they had won (they were over the moon!) we learned that they were located in Yellowknife, NWT.

Riley + Tyler did not even have one hesitation about making a weekend trip out of it to come to Vancouver, indulge in a much needed mini vacation together, do some shopping for their own wedding taking place in New Brunswick (where they are originally from) later this year, and have their engagement shoot.

Although the shoot was styled, it was important that the shoot represented who they are as a couple. Riley and I sent many emails back and forth getting to know each other. In amongst the emails and inspirational photos Riley shared with me I learned that they love lighthouses and that Tyler had proposed at a lighthouse on the East Coast. Below is the photo she included with her giveaway submission – a photo that Tyler snapped just moments before he proposed to Riley.

Hence my immediate suggestion to do the shoot at Lighthouse Park in West Vancouver. Based on Riley’s emails (which were seriously love stories you only see in the movies!) and the inspirational images she had pinned, I knew that something with a slightly darker, more passionate look would fit – with of course some laughs along the way.

We set a theme of “Cocktail Hour at the Lighthouse”. I ensured I tied in a few specific aspects that they loved most – this included the book “To the Lighthouse” which brought tears to Riley’s eyes when she saw it and had them reenact the photo above as they do each year on their proposal anniversary.

When the weekend of the shoot arrived and we finally had the opportunity to meet in person, it was like we were long lost friends and that no time had passed since we last saw each other. The day unfolded perfectly with a few bonuses for Riley + Tyler along the way – as we entered Lighthouse Park, Riley spotted the most beautiful owl perched in a tree staring right at us as if if had been waiting for us. Then shortly after when we were down at the water, a little seal poked his out and watched us for a while.

This couple was as adventurous as they had said…hiking into Lighthouse Park all dressed up and climbing up and down rocks (Riley in heels!) without a hesitation to get some amazing shots. It was such an absolute pleasure to meet them and spend an entire day together – I am so thankful for meeting such a beautiful couple, inside and out.

I couldn’t have done it without the amazing team – a huge thank you to Charrisse Mae Makeup Artistry, Sarah Braim of Rain Hair Salon, Elsa Corsi, Jeweliette Jewellry, Blush Bridal & Special Occasions and Vasia Photography.

hello world!

Welcome to our new blog!!! No case of the Mondays over here because in addition to revealing our new blog, there is another exciting announcement. All business related 😉

Today marks the launch of a project that myself, Vasia of Vasia Photography and Lele of Le Soirees have been working on for what seems like forever now! Vancouver’s newest wedding blog: Tutu & Fru. A blog specific to Vancouver & B.C. that showcases talented vendors, gorgeous venues and acts as a resource for couples getting married in B.C.

In addition to the three of us who all have our own businesses within the Vancouver wedding industry (two wedding planners & a wedding photographer), we have invited L’nielle to be our social media assistant. We have a big year ahead of us with our own projects so L’nielle will play a key role in ensuring our sites stay up-to-date. All I can say is I love these girls and I am so excited for our new venture together!

We are so thrilled to invite you to check out our very first post on the blog today so go on over and check it out! Be sure to follow Tutu & Fru on Facebook, Twitter & Pinterest for the latest love & style stories.
