Erin + Scott: Rockwater Secret Cove Resort

This wedding is near + dear to my heart. The bride, Erin, is one of my best friends and since Scott was introduced into her life, he has also become a great friend. Friends who hire me are always concerned about how much fun I’m going to have on their wedding day and that is the last thing that goes through my mind. I can never emphasize enough that being chosen as their planner/decorator gives me the most joy + excitement of all. I would prefer to be running around on their wedding day ensuring everything is perfect for them. I wouldn’t want it any other way.

Erin + Scott had a full “wedding weekend” on the Sunshine Coast. Erin‘s family has a cabin on Thormanby Island which is just a 5 minute boat ride away from the dock at Rockwater where the wedding was being held. The day before the wedding, Erin + Scott water taxi’d all of the guests over to Thormanby for a “Before I Do” BBQ at her family cabin. It was the perfect kick off to an epic weekend. All of the neighboring cabin families were in attendance with their BBQ’s grilling up a storm for all of the guests, drinks were flowing + there were lawn games galore. It was the perfect opportunity for all of the friends to meet the families and vice versa. After an unforgettable day on Thormanby, guests were transported back to Rockwater where Erin + Scott hosted a cozy bonfire complete with welcome s’mores before everyone headed to bed in the nearby cabins + tent house suites.

The wedding day was nothing short of magical. It was probably the sunniest/hottest day we had seen that season so far…and we were setting up under a clear tent. Let’s just say Margot + I sweat buckets that day but no pain, no gain! The bride + groom wanted an elegant yet West Coast feel to their entire wedding. The clear tent allowed us to take advantage of the beautiful natural scenery in every direction. Simple white draping + rod iron chandeliers completed the tent and we created a very romantic + elegant feel with the tablescape details. Platinum satin linens paired with dusty pink roses, white hydrangea, pedestal candles as well as gold + wood accents.

After the beautiful + emotional ceremony, the wedding party + photographer hopped on a yacht back to Thormanby where Erin wanted to do the portraits since it’s a place so close to the her heart. Guests were kept occupied with plenty of drinks, snacks + photo op moments. When the wedding party arrived back to Rockwater, everyone enjoyed an incredible family style dinner under the clear tent. Erin + Scott’s wedding marks the largest sparkler send off we’ve ever pulled off which led straight into dancing until the wee hours. Huge props to Melissa Gidney for the stunning photos + to Flower Lantern, Design Spectacle, DJ Pri of GirlOnWax, Gibsons Party Rentals, Rockwater Secret Cove Resort + many more who made this weekend such a success xo And another thanks to Erin + Scott, for being simple amazing. Love you guys!

Kind words:

“Jessica was the best investment we could have made for our wedding day. She is professional, to-the-point and most importantly she knows the Vancouver wedding world inside and out which means time/money savings for her clients. Jess did our decor planning and day-of coordination and we could not have been happier with the work she did. She has an extraordinary eye for detail and a talent for keeping everything moving forward in an organized fashion. Jess absorbs wedding planning stressors (location changes, seating plans, missing vases the next day etc.) so that you don’t have to. Three weeks out from our wedding she took over everything so that we could enjoy the time leading up to the big day…and we really did. Everyone kept commenting on how calm we were and I know we felt that way because we knew we had the team at Petite Pearl looking out for us.

You only get married once so you really want to do it right. Jessica ensures you stick to your budget, have fun throughout the whole process and most importantly that you don’t have a care in the world on the actual day. Jess is reliable, has an awesome sense of humour (which you need at moments while planning a wedding) and will without a doubt elevate your wedding experience ten-fold.

Two words – HIRE HER.”

Kelsey + James: Squamish Lil’Wat Cultural Centre

Starting the walk down memory lane <version 2014> by thinking back to our very first wedding of the year. Kelsey + James, who are one of the sweetest couples we will ever have the pleasure of working with, were married at the Squamish Lil’Wat Cultural Center in Whistler Village in January. Their wedding day was magical and I will never forget it.

Kelsey was the first bride to tell me she did not want any flowers included in the decor. Yes to bouquets but no flowers anywhere else. So be it! An abundance of candlelight filled the ceremony as well as reception amongst wintery + rustic elements such as wood logs, harvest tables + rosemary sprigs. Romantic, classic + cozy.

An incredible family style dinner was prepared + served by the talented Whistler Cooks team. We are huge fans of family style – this style of dinner service starts the conversation amongst guests who may not already know each other and really creates the feeling of a big dinner at home with loved ones; exactly the feeling Kelsey + James wanted their wedding to have.

Neither Kelsey + James nor any one of their 120 guests were from Canada which goes to show just how amazing these two are. Their friends and family came from around the world to celebrate with them and we are absolutely honored that they chose us to bring their dream winter wedding to life. Anastasia Photography captured the day beautifully + Tomasz Wagner put together an incredible Super 8 wedding highlight film that makes me beyond happy every time I watch it (see it here!).

It’s really hard to believe this wedding was not even a year ago. 2014 was filled with so many incredible couples, weddings, events, milestones + adventures that it feels like 10 years combined into 1. But it is safe to say that this year could not have started off any better + we owe a huge thanks to Kelsey, James as well as all of the vendors involved in their wedding for that. So happy to call these two friends for life + I hope to visit them on a future trip to the US!

Cheers to 2015 xo

Kind words:

“When my husband and I look back on the planning of our wedding we BOTH are in agreement that the best planning decision we made was hiring Jessica Minnie of Petite Pearl Events to help us with the general planning, decor and execution of our special day.

Jessica is incredibly professional with an infectious energy and fresh approach to bringing your dreams to life. It is important to note that Jessica and her team pulled everything together all while staying within a tight budget and covering every single detail with an eye for perfection.

The commitment and hard work Jessica puts toward her business and client relationships is so inspiring that it actually led me to re-evaluate my own job…everyone should be so lucky to be as in love with their career and it truly shows in everything she does. I could not be more thankful to have worked with Petite Pearl and recommend using Jessica and team with my highest praise.”
