Ania + Brandon: Brock House Restaurant

Ania + Brandon’s wedding was an unforgettable one. Their wedding took place in September 2012 but was only featured on Style Me Pretty a couple of months ago so we hadn’t shared all of the photos until recently. It’s always fun to take a trip down memory lane even though it feels like their wedding was just yesterday!

I became involved with the planning almost a year and a half in advance of Ania + Brandon’s wedding – beginning with the venue hunt which definitely allowed me to become very familiar with a plentiful of venues early on since we looked and looked and looked! We landed on the gorgeous Brock House at Jericho Beach as their venue and the rest of the planning and details fell right into place. Ania + I spent a lot of time together over the next year planning all of the many details which allowed us to develop a great friendship especially through the loss of her beautiful mom before the wedding day arrived.

As you will read in the Style Me Pretty feature, Ania + Brandon were able to have a very intimate ceremony with Ania’s mom present months earlier but we kept this a secret all the way until the actual wedding day. It was announced during the ceremony that Ania + Brandon would not need to sign official documents since they were married in a beautiful Catholic ceremony with Ania’s mom present several months prior. The couples’ strength, specifically Ania’s, throughout the entire ordeal was incredible and I definitely wanted to ensure their wedding day was nothing short of magical.

We had Delovely Creative on board to assist with bringing Ania’s decor + floral vision to life. Everything that day (as you can see in the photos) including the couple, the wedding party, guests + the beautiful decor glowed in the perfect light. The flower arrangements are still one of my favorites to date. I had my trusty sidekick, Vasia Weddings, on hand that day to capture all of the magical moments + stunning details. It was such an incredible day beginning to end + I wish we could go back and do it all over again!

“Simply the best wedding planner we could have hired in Vancouver! I would not hesitate to recommend Petite Pearl Events to anyone needing help organizing and planning any type of event or celebration!

Jessica was always organized and on top of the many aspects to cover. Most importantly keeping our budget under check and helped us source everything we had envisioned. I would have not known where to start in terms of hiring vendors that and she made it a breeze. In general she made what could have easily been a very stressful day and process – into a relaxed and extremely enjoyable experience for myself, my husband and all our guests!

I will no doubt miss working with Jessica and our many meetings over coffee. I highly suggest that you contact her and have her help you in creating the wedding day of your dreams!”

Justine + Lee: Kicking Horse Mountain Resort

Justine + Lee’s Kicking Horse Mountain Resort wedding was nothing short of AMAZING and certainly a major highlight of last Summer. This was our first wedding at this stunning mountain resort in Golden, BC and we are so thankful we were invited to be a part of Justine + Lee’s wedding weekend. Not only did we enjoy all of the planning + design/decor involvement but Justine, Lee and all of their friends and family made us feel so welcome within a very private gathering. Since it was off season at the time of the wedding, they pretty much had the entire resort all to themselves with nothing but incredible views in all directions.

The ceremony was held at the top of Kicking Horse Mountain at Eagle’s Eye Restaurant where the views are breathtaking. Weather atop Kicking Horse can change within 15 minutes from sunshine to downpour but we got very lucky for the ceremony. The perfect amount of overcast + wind was present for what was probably the most magical ceremony I’ve ever witnessed. Simple decor touches is all we needed for such an incredible backdrop. A string quartet played for the ceremony and throughout the cocktail hour that followed on the Eagle’s Eye terrace. The amazingly fearless duo behind Two Mann Studios, Lanny + Erika, were scaling rocks and hanging off rafters to capture all of the awesome photos. Not to mention, they stayed for 3 extra hours at the end of the night so as not to miss the hilarity on the dancefloor.

Our team headed back down the mountain to add the finishing touches to Whitetooth Grill where the fruits of our labour transformed a ski lodge into a rustic dinner reception. A delicious family style dinner was served in record time by the Catering team. We worked with almost all new vendors on this wedding due to it’s location but we are so grateful Brianna Errelat + her team joined in on the road trip to beautify the entire bridal party. Knowing the bridal party was in such good hands for the entire morning allowed us to focus on all of the other many details + logistics.

One of the new and unforgettable vendors was BPM Krew, flown in all the way from Toronto. Justine + Lee had seen them perform live while on a trip in the previous year and knew they had to have them perform at their wedding – and we knew why the second they did their sound checks the night before while we were setting up. Once dinner + speeches were complete we did a quick flip of the room to create the dancefloor that would not be clear until 3AM after a choreographed dance by the entire wedding party kicked off the party. BPM Krew rocked it until the lights came on and the weekend carried on with a big brunch gathering the next day in one of the gorgeous chalets.

Susie + Scott: Bridges Granville Island

Susie + Scott’s wedding was extra special because not only was I their Wedding Planner, but I was also one of Susie’s bridesmaids! Susie + I go way back to Grade 9 – yep, high school dance pre-parties, study buddies, soccer teammates, weekend pit parties and all. Even while living in separate cities attending different Universities, we always made it a point to see each other a couple of times a year no matter what. The only word I can use to describe Susie is: gem – rare, beautiful + definitely one of a kind. I love her to bits.

Susie + Scott are a match made in heaven. These two are so down to earth, hard working, beautiful inside + out and also two of the most hilarious, sarcastic people you’ll ever meet. Before Susie met Scott, I had never been witness to “you complete her” being something that didn’t just happen in the movies. I’m sure I’ve worked with other couples where this is the case but I typically only meet these couples once they are already together so I don’t have the opportunity to see the change from before + after their meeting. But something in Susie was simply complete and she was the best version of Susie all the time. I’m so happy Scott came into her life.

The wedding took place at Bridges on Granville Island in October so the theme + feel of the wedding was fall inspired. Susie + Scott wanted a cute, rustic feel with hand made details so we used single stem blooms in a combination of sweet little vases + brown bottles on wood rounds with tonnes of candlelight on the tables and we made circle garland for the altar backdrop that also became the backdrop for the head table. Stationery by Design Spectacle added the perfect amount of extra detail to the tables + Celsia Floral blew us away with how they brought our vibrant fall floral vision to life. Like look at that bouquet! A popcorn bar with every seasoning you could imagine was definitely a hit and of course so was Photobooth Vancouver!

I was so honored to stand next to one of my best friends in the entire world on her special day and be able to party into the wee hours with everyone. I definitely have Lele of Le Soirees to thank for that since she immediately said yes to taking on the role of day-of coordinator when I told her the two roles I had been asked to fill. Lele’s immediate support allowed me to say yes to both bridesmaid + wedding planner and by the time the wedding came around, I was also lucky enough to have our very own Margot take a lead role in helping Lele manage the day.

A bonus treat was having Brianna Errelat + her team there all morning doing our hair + makeup and having Vasia Photography with us all day.

Jessica + Mike: Squamish Lil’Wat Cultural Center

I’ve been dying to share this wedding since the day it took place last July because it includes many of my all-time favorites. From the amazing couple, stunning bouquet designs + one of our favorite venues to the delicious family-style dinner + outgoing band that rocked the night away, this Whistler wedding was unforgettable. The cherry on top is that Tomasz Wagner was there to capture it morning to night – and when he has the couple climbing up rock faces in heels, you know it’s going to be sooooooo good.

The natural beauty of Whistler, wood-filled venue as well as the bride’s love for herbs + request for lots of greenery with a pop of yellow inspired all of the decor + floral. Marcie from Bliss Events outdid herself designing one of the most beautiful + unique set of bouquets that we have ever seen. Their luscious overgrown look is stunning and the colours managed to make the bride’s beautiful blue eyes stand out even more.

To keep the feeling of “having a big dinner party” with their closest family + friends, we opted for family-style dinner service which worked perfectly for the menu which is one of the best meals I have ever had. Jessica + Mike are major foodies and their love for a big plate of various hearty salads and a lesser amount of meat was ideal for the hot mid-July wedding day. Whistler Cooks customized the menu with the most delicious pasta salad, quinoa salad, chopped salad + mediterranean tomato salad alongside sage dusted chicken + herb dijon potatoes. I still crave this dinner every day.

As always, the day goes by in a flash but when you have a ridiculously awesome band to rock the reception into the wee hours, the day seems to go on forever – in a good way. Guests were having to hang their shirts out the windows to dry the sweat/cool off and the rest of the guests had ties around their heads or were singing at the top of their lungs to classic tunes such as Journey brought to life by The Last Scene. One heck of a party.

Other highlights included refreshing custom strawberry cocktails served to guests post ceremony, talking the venue into letting us use an old fish drying rack as the ceremony altar which subtly tied in the artifacts showcased within the Squamish Lil’Wat Cultural Center as well as Tomasz’s extremely popular polaroid photobooth which captured some pretty hilarious moments.

Be sure to check out Jessica + Mike’s wedding featured on Style Me Pretty Canada as the bride provides a beautifully detailed story of the wedding day and great tips for every couple on their wedding day. Thank you Jes + Mike for allowing us to be a part of your magical day.

“Jessica was always incredibly responsive to all our questions and made our whole wedding something we could enjoy rather than worry about. From finding us our wonderful photographer that perfectly fit our style, to coordinating our venue and our caterers, she did it all. She and her team made the day so easy and memorable, and Jessica had all the little things covered before we ever had to think of them. It was so smooth and stress-free, our parents even thanked her in their wedding toast for making sure we could all enjoy such a special day. We highly recommend that anyone who is considering a planner for their wedding should hire someone, and we can’t recommend Jessica Minnie and Petite Pearl highly enough.”
