I first met Laura a few years back after finding her stunning work online when hunting for a calligrapher for a couple of upcoming styled shoots I was working on. Laura is the extreme talent behind Laura Lavender Calligraphy + Illustration and lucky for me, she was also in the process of building her business and wanting to gain exposure in the wedding industry. I knew I needed her talented artwork to grace my tablescapes and she was extremely excited to be part of it. We had a lot of fun creating things together and immediately became friends.
A couple of years later, Laura herself got engaged to her incredibly awesome man, Aaron, who speaks fluent sarcasm so we immediately got along because so do I. I finally got to meet Aaron in person and their incredibly sweet little boy, Oliver, together with Laura at our first consultation where we discussed their very intimate Sacred Mountain Lavender Farm (of course!) wedding.
Both Laura + Aaron did not want much for their wedding day but enough that it felt like their special day amongst their closest family + friends. With lavender being the theme for the wedding, as well as the obvious fact that Laura’s calligraphy needed to be incorporated, it was sure to be beautiful. We got very lucky with the early August date – we were on the very cusp of when lavender is still the bright, lavender colour you normally associate it with (rather than the faded purple, almost grey look) and right before harvest season.
We also got lucky with weather for the outdoor ceremony…almost too lucky! The day was extremely hot but at least it wasn’t raining. Guests sat amongst stacks of hay draped with fabric and watched Laura + Aaron exchange vows in front of a gorgeous lavender field. Following the ceremony, guests snacked on local Salt Spring Island cheeses + fruits, drank lavender lemonade + were taken into the fields to make their own lavender bouquets to take home. In lieu of a traditional guest book, guests were given pre-addressed/stamped envelopes + note cards to write a letter to Laura + Aaron following the wedding. That way, Laura + Aaron could look forward to receiving snail mail following their wedding from their favorite people.
The weekend was extremely fun for the team that went over – myself, Brianna Errelat Hair + Makeup and Vasia Photography. We flew over the Gulf Islands from Vancouver to Salt Spring Island on the most beautiful day and were able to ensure Laura + Aaron had an unforgettable day. For me personally, I had the honour of making all of the bouquets + florals which is always a treat.

“Jessica was amazing to work with. She captured our vision and made it a reality. From the first day we got together to the “day of,” she went above and beyond our expectations.
In our second meeting she brought a beautiful inspiration board that represented exactly what we were looking for. She had taken all of our ideas as well as added a ton more that made for an extremely beautiful wedding.
We were so impressed with her organizational skills and all that she took care of including coordinating every little detail from the rentals and decor to the photography and make-up.
Thanks to Jessica our wedding day was nothing but a beautiful celebration, free of stress or concerns. We have not stopped getting comments from people of how much they enjoyed our special day!
We can highly recommend Jessica Minnie and her company Petite Pearl Events to anyone looking for a fun and highly professional event planner!!!”
